My lovely little boy went into a sugery center for a day. He had some 3 fillings to get done but doesn't like to have the dentist look at his mouth. After considering our options that would be best for Gunnar, we decided to have him use General Anesthesia to get the work done. He woke up the morning before so hungry we went out and did what we could to keep his mind off food. These pictures are of us waiting for him to go back.
Then when they were listening to his heart, he told the lady, "I cut my hands in my dad's beer can" It didn't happen in beer can, it was a dr pepper can that Gunnar was drinking and for some reason stuck 2 of his fingers in.

Traditions and Chores

Don't you love traditions? I always loved the traditions that my family did when we were younger especially the ones that we did around Christmas time. We are trying to set up traditions with our kids and teach them the reasons that we think having traditions in our family are special.
Something else I love is chores. My girls are getting old enough to do chores. They each have a chore one has the bathroom and the other has the living room. Since our house is so tiny its not that bad ever. Gunnar? Well he follows me and usually ends up putting dirty clothes off the floor in with the clean clothes in the dryer.
How can I tie these together you might want to know? According to Novalee, whose turn it is this week to pick up the living room, our family has a tradition, it is to have a messy living room and we are ruining that tradition by making her clean.
Is my house that messy constantly that my kids think its a tradition to have a messy house?

Confessions of a Crazy Woman

Well, actually first of all it is weird that I am writing this about me because calling me a woman is weird. Despite the fact that in 2 years I will be 30 years old and also my husband will be 30 (wow really old) in August.
Anyways my crazy confession for today is so embarrassing but since most of you who know me know it is not uncommon, at Walmart today, I saw this couple that looked familiar to me. Thinking for a minute I realized they are from this blog that I happened to find when blog hopping and the reason I liked their blog is because the husband is my great Aunt Nola's grandson. Most people would drop a line on their comment section introducing themselves but not me, I went up to them and talked to them at Walmart . Yes I talk to strangers that I admit I read their blog. I know its different since we are related still, I love being the crazy one.
While we were there, we also saw Jason's bosses from Provo City. In case you don't know he also works for Parks and Recreation Department supervising basketball games. Our original reason to go was to buy a swimming pool for the back yard. We were planning on just buying the $50 one. Novalee had other plans in front of Jason's bosses she threw this huge fit including throwing the box with the pool we were buying, she punched Harley and was having an attitude moment. All in front of Jay's bosses. You didn't hear about that from me though!

Me hating something

Sometimes I hate being so close to perfect. I went to the store today and this man kept following me. Finally I turned around and said, "look man stop following me" he then told me that he was hired by Josh Groban to follow me. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to take a picture with Josh Groban. The minute I agreed to he was on a plane coming to Utah.
These are our pictures, we wanted to take our pictures ourselves so I took his picture and he took mine. Can you tell he was tired of the photographers?

Dear Novalee

Dear Novalee,
Thank you for being you! There are so many great things I should say to you that I don't daily because I am too busy hitting my head into the wall or trying to follow behind the three of you picking up.
First let me tell you how greatful I am for you. You have brought out a sense of humor in me that I thought mom's shouldn't have. Mommy's aren't supposed to fall over laughing all the time like me. You love me even though I am not nearly good enough for you. I remember when you had first come home from the hospital I had no idea what to do and Grandma Karen (the really old (young) one had to leave to go make dinner for us. I didn't want her to leave since Daddy was buying a new car seat for our Buick and I didn't know if I could be a Mommy all by myself. Luckily I was able to do it for the few hours I was alone and I have loved being a mommy to you! The first week you were home I had quite a few scares. I guess I fell asleep with you in my arms and you rolled off me onto the floor next to the bed. Another night (I think this happened twice) I woke up and you were in between my legs on top of the comforter but as I got up to get you out of bed I didn't know you were there and covered you with the blanket. Luckily Heavenly Father knows how special you are and how much I needed you and let me keep you with me on earth. You have been such a great example to your younger brother and sister. I love everything about you! You have a love for life and a love for the dramatics. Thank you!!
Remember this always Novalee!
Love
Mommy

PS
Thank you for doing the dishes tonight and setting the table for dinner!

I'm Back!.....kind of

Well anyways, I am so happy to announce that we are going to be back to our regular blogs well, maybe, I am trying to work on some personal things and that will mean less time to play on the computer but I do want to spend what time I do have on the computer keeping our families up to date with what is going on! Jason is planning on some time off and we plan on doing what we can to enjoy our time and grow stronger as a family. Can you tell how tired I am while I was trying to get a new picture for my blog of me?

What We Have Been Doing!

So many things, so little time

Let me start off with something that happened tonight,
Gunnar and Harley were asleep. Jason was getting ready for bed but Novalee asked him to go for a walk with her. He told her he would run with her, I said I wanted to go too so we locked the front door and ran back and forth on our side of the block. It was so frustrating that I am so not in shape and that I was falling behind. As I grew more and more tired, I would tell myself that I couldn't do it anymore. I would stop take a break while the other 2 passed me. Then on the final time back we were racing to our house, Jason took off, and then Novalee and I started running trying to beat him. About 4 houses away from mine, which is not that far, I felt my body become tired. I know that you need to push yourself in order to succeed but I didn't think I could do it. Now that I think about it I really wished I had done it. It was not far at all to really be an accomplishment but the fact that I gave up bothers me.
The other day, I was checking my grades on the computer. I am sure that all my faithful readers know that I am not one to be on my homework and to get it done right away. I think one of my greatest weaknesses is procrastinating. Anyways, suprisingly, I didn't get an A in a class I was hoping I would get an A in. I missed a few of the discussion boards that I was supposed to post on but, for some reason it was a shock that I didn't ace it. I don't know why it was so upsetting to me anyways since I failed another class (Luckily it was a 2 credit class that had wayyy to much homework for what it was worth). However, as I looked at that grade, I found myself crying. I didn't just cry, I started sobbing!
Jason was sitting on the couch by me and told me to come sit next to him and talk. He is such a great man, I feel so lucky to have him. He just put his arms around me and just let me cry. My feelings just came pouring out to him about so many things and the trials that I have. He is so wonderful and just listened to me.
At our home we go by school years since that is the schedule we have been on for about 8 years. Let me tell you this year has been one of the worst but as I have come to accept the trials that I have been given, I have come to learn to love that families are forever and that at times we don't think things could get worse but they do. I have also come to learn this year that I am actually an adult not just playing one. While I am constantly making mistakes, I am grateful that Heavenly Father understands me. He knows that I am not perfect, I am so far on the other side of perfect. He loves me. I know that Satan does what he can to try to discourage me from happiness but as learned tonight, I need to push past what I think is going to be hard and get to what I want to accomplish in life. I can't give up on myself or my family when I feel I can't and together with my wonderful husband by my side we can get our family to where we want to be.
I also tonight feel so grateful because after a few discussions with Novalee she has decided that she wants to be baptized. At times, I have wondered if we were ever going to hear that out of her mouth. Our typical Sunday involves Jason and I trying to convince her to go to church so we can be a family at church and learn about things that Heavenly Father and Jesus want us to learn. As usual this morning while we were getting the kids bathed, we had a "loud discussion" with her about her attitude towards church. Now I know she is only 8 but we really want her to love the gospel as much as we do. We want her to learn for herself the importance. So usually when we have brought it up to her, we hear, that she wants to be baptized when she is 20. We aren't going to force her but we want her to know exactly what it means when you get baptized and the responsibilty that comes with it. My lovely daughter told me with tears in her eyes, "Mommy, I love Jesus, and I want to get baptized and make the right choices, I just don't like to sit in church because it is so long." It was so sweet to hear that from her. I love my kids so much!!

Look at my Breath Mommy....

The other day we had a really lonnnnnnnnnnnnng day. Jason woke up and wasn't able to hear out of one of his ears. I wasn't sure how long it would take him at the doctors office or what exactly we would need to do so I just kept the girls home from school. We ended up spending a few hours at least getting Jason somewhat better after leaving we realized that Jason had to go to school soon. We ended up just staying out in Orem and the kids and I waited in the car while Jason ran in to take some quizes since he didn't feel good at all. While we were watching tv in the car, I told Gunnar to tell Jason when he came back in that he was a princess now and was going to wear dresses. Luckily Gunnar is all boy and told me, "Mommy, look at my breath, I am a Gunnar not a princess"

Katrina.......where have you been lately??

I know all of you are wondering where I have been lately and why I have not told my life story lately but I have been really busy with school. 2 more weeks then I am off until August! I also have 3 kids and a husband who are all very demanding of my time and when I try to update my blog, I am interrupted by the 50 milllion things that I should be doing.
I also have been sick lately. I found out a month ago that I am hypoglycemic which from what I am understanding is that I was comsuming too much sugar. I had no idea more then 2 44 oz Dr. Peppers could do that to you! After a scary moment one day, we did blood tests and then we have come to that decision. Because of the stress from hearing what was wrong, I kind of was not paying attention when I got the call saying what it was. This website should give some help on understanding it. It has actually been a lot harder on me then I thought it would, no DP, no pink cookies, no mint milky ways. Its terrible!! I know that in the long run it will be better and it made me really upset at first because I am way to young to be in this situation but I am lucky, Jason has been so supportive of me and is helping in any way that he can.
Meanwhile I have been taking lots of pictures everywhere we went and I will put them on probably next week!

Zoo Day!!

The zoo was really fun! Gunnar was in love with all the snakes, Harley got to see her beloved wolf, and Novalee got to pose for pictures! They didn't have the butterflies that she wanted to see but she had fun. It was kind of chilly but it was worth it. Afterwards we went to the Mayan for dinner and the kids got to watch the diving show. Ending up with a round of Spades with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Jerry. It was a great day.

Novalee was in the Spelling Bee!!

For some reason it was really dark. She did awesome she made it through 4 rounds I think but ended up starting the word wrong and if you know how spelling bees work, when you start the word off wrong, even if you go back and spell it right, it is still a missed word. I am so proud of her. She is so smart and such a fun girl!

Happy Valentines Day???

I am so behind on what has been going on at our home if you can't tell by these posts, this year on Valentines Day, I helped at Harley's party. I ended up not feeling very good so I just took pictures while others did all the work. I didn't get to go to Novalee's class for her party but she came home with lots of candy too. The next day on the actual Valentines Day, we went with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Jerry to Tucanos. They had a wonderful set up for Valentines Day and all the girls got roses. My girls each got 2 because they asked for a different color. After dinner we went back over to Jason's parents and played Spades which is now one of my favorite games. Its even better if I win though.
